OH MY GOD, I FORGOT ABOUT THE BABY TEACHER.

summary: on a school holiday, saten is sent to a "special lesson" at a different school, along with a handful of other low-level/non-espers (hint: they're all level upper users from the previous arc). the special lesson turns out to be a day-long course on ability development.
overall rating: 7/10
uncomfortable moments: 1 (wlw as the butt of jokes, as is the way of this anime)
so, right off the bat, i'm glad this is a saten-focused episode. i love her as a complex character, and her friends are much more fun to look at than the tokiwadai students imo. i also love the return of jufuku eyebrows-girl, who has objectively one of the best designs i've ever seen in anime, and that one gang leader girl whom i was LITERALLY thinking about this morning.
but with the introduction of komoe (what a weird ass character btw), now i KNOW they're gonna hit us with the next story arc/opening very soon. i kind of thought this would be another filler episode at first, but nah, they're introducing plot-relevant shit now. thank GOD. that beach episode was grueling and demoralizing.
jufuku and saten having cute moments together was Very good. i felt so uh-oh about it because they made jufuku out to be like...a gay joke at first, but they actually had a nice meaningful connection, and i enjoyed it a lot.
i also really enjoyed watching saten start to focus on developing her abilities the "right" way this time (i.e. by working hard, blah blah, the heavy-handed message hits hard). i love seeing character growth in action! this is like...a mild redemption arc for her level upper mistake. seeing how determined she is complementary to the supporting cast is very satisfying.
oh, and the "this is not a punishment" speech komoe gave at the end hit me really hard. idk, just something i needed to hear right now.
all in all, one of the sweeter, calmer episodes. saten ruiko i love you.
